ESPN has a poll that asks what is the biggest surprise in baseball so far... including this Smoltz outing, Dmitri's 3 runs, Cubbies 16 runs yesterday...

First 1400 votes has this Smoltz outing.

Short memories.  Here is my favorite memory of a Smoltz outing (in relief, though) in 2002.  April 6th.  First relief appearance of the year.

2/3 IP, 6 H, 8 R, 8 ER, 2 BB, 2 K

He went on to get 54 saves with a 3.29 ERA that season.

So, surprised that Smoltz is starting badly early in the season?  Nah.  Now is the time to get Smoltz from newbie fantasy owners... THEY'LL get the bad outing... you'll get the future reward.
