In terms of offense, they appear to be equal with the Dominicans. But, the Americans have more pitching talent with Clemens, Buehrle, and Willis leading the way. Puerto Rico should also do very well in the WBC, especially if Carlos Delgado hits a hot bat. What's the deal with Italy? I don't understand why Mike Piazza, Doug Mirabelli, David Delucci, and other Americans are allowed to represent that nation. They're all pulling a Zola Budd (the South African who represented Britain in the '84 Summer Olympics). The way I see it, you have no business representing a country in a sports competition, unless you are native-born or a citizen of that country. Having ancestors in a certain place shouldn't be a qualification, either. If Piazza and Company want to represent Italy, they should do what Hakeem Olajuwon did before joining the U.S. Dream Team-- BECOME A CITIZEN OF THAT COUNTRY. [Jaydawg from Tarzana/CA] Replies:
