     According to today's Chicago Sun Times, the A's are on the verge to signing the Big Hurt to a one year deal.  The A's have made some good moves in the offseason, particularly in signing Milton Bradley, who should blossom in the East Bay.  As of right now, Oakland will be a strong contender for the A.L. West pennant.  Last year's winner, the L.A./Anaheim/Irvine/San Juan Capistrano Angels, seem more intent nowadays in taking Arte Moreno to court over another name change for the team.
