     Verlander is worth the gamble.  His 1.25 ERA in the minors last season demonstrates that he's obviously one of the top rookie pitchers to watch out for this year.  Besides, Mike Lowell's not the same player anymore, though he probably has another good year left in him, and Josh Beckett is pretty unpredictable.  When game time comes around, you don't know whether Beckett will pitch like Cy Young or Anthony Young.
