Ryan Church optioned to the minors

Surprise move by the Nationals.  Marlon Byrd and Brandan Watson will split time in centerfield.



Bowden indicates that the move was made because Watson was simply better in spring.



If I were Church, I would be seething.  I suspect he is.... certainly, there are a number of teams out there who would like him (Seattle, after the Reed injury, for one).



The irony is that Church got his shot after a strong spring, when the Nationals shocked Endy Chavez, optioning him to the minors last year.
