One of the items on display was a Babe Ruth bat. One of the players took the bat out of the display one day and noticed the bat had Nails in the top of it. He claimed the bat was corked! (The nails could have been added at anytime, so who really knows?) Baseball made rules about bats specifically because Ruth used to use what was described as a "club", instead of a bat. Didn't really matter what they made Ruth use, he still hit HR's like crazy, and probably would have with a toothpick. He was the greatest player in the game during his era, by far. Bonds did not become the greatest player in the game during his era until he started using performance enhancing drugs. If they had performance enhancing drugs readily available during his era would Ruth have used them? Who knows, but how much better could he have been?
