Bonds threatens to quit if bone chips in left elbow get worse

     The problem may be beyond the elbow problem.  All the pressures surrounding the steroid controversy may be finally getting to Barry.  The negative publicity in the past--much of it brought upon himself-- didn't seem to bother Bonds before, but then again, he's never faced this much scrutiny before.  Right now, I'll bet Bud Selig and other executives of major league baseball are privately hoping that Barry calls it quits, so they won't have to deal with the issue of whether or not an asterisk would be put in place if 756 homers are reached.
