Beckett & Holliday pitch in a very tough hitting division if you think about it. Every team(even the Devil Rays) can hit in that division. Halladay & Beckett will have to pitch against teams in the AL East a lot this season. This could be part of the problem. Beckett seems to either be dominant or way off. I think Beckett's move from the NL & the Marlins in particular has hurt Beckett somewhat. He may get more run support from that Red Sox line up, but he is pitching in a hitter's ballpark in Boston. He also has to face a DH instead of a pitcher now. And, as I already mentioned, he has to pitch against the Yankees, Blue Jays, Orioles, & Devil Rays. All these teams can hit. Even the Devil Rays beat Curt Schilling a few days ago. Beckett also got to pitch in a pitcher's ballpark in Florida when he was with the Marlins. 

Halladay? Can't explain that one, but he also seems to get torched at times or atleast once in a while. If he don't have it, he is really just as meteocre as anyone else, although when he has his stuff, he can be very dominant. Both of these guys have a history of nagging injury problems to. Is it me, or does most all the big name pitchers seem to be injury prone? Think about it. Prior, Wood, Sheets, Halladay, Beckett, Sabathia, Harden, Schilling, Burnett, Johnson, Schmidt, Peavy, Hampton, Smoltz, Martinez, even Gagne as a closer. All of these guys have been hurt or had constant nagging injuries at one time or another, or even more than 2, 3, or 4 times. All have spent significant time on the DL at one time or another, some on more than 3 or 4 ocassions.
