     Here's a recent article I discovered about Mr. Washington.  <b><i><a href="http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/dsnews/033abn1.htm" target="_blank">http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/dsnews/033a<BR>bn1.htm<BR></a></i></b>   He sounds like a very intriguing guy with a fascinating story.  It's too bad that the Yawkey family never gave Lefty a chance with the Red Sox.  The Yawkey's were notorious--even during their time-- for having very racist views.  The Bo-Sox, who were the very last team to have a Black player on its squad, signed Pumpsie Green during the '59 season, which wasn't long after Lefty tried out for them.
