The value of the BABIP (batting avg on balls in play) stat, exemplified by looking at Melvin Mora's 2004 season

I've added the ability to rank hitters' BABIP from highest to lowest and lowest to highest.



In this blog post, I rank the 2008 hitters in BABIP+ (high to low, min 10 games played, 250 ABs) and AVG.  This resulted in a few players who might have a batting average crash and burn much like Mora did from 2004 to 2005 (as a result of a ridiculously high BABIP).
