If Young doesn't start to hit soon I think you will get your wish.  Leyland is not going to give Dmitri playing time just because he is paid a ton of money.  He has a good track record as a hitter in his career so hopefully he will turn things around quickly.  If he doesn't Thames will eat into his playing time.  I wonder if Young's legal problems are weighting on his mind...
