127 0 All The Olde English Ds Game 53: Detroit Tigers 1 New York Yankees 6 6/5/06, 9:59am Detroit continues to struggle against the Yankees. Mike Mussina pitched a complete game and only gave up on run to the Tigers. He had a shutout going until Maggs hit a RBI single with two outs in the ninth. The Tiger offense seems to fluctuate between scoring five or more runs and then only scoring a run or two in the next few games. The consistency has not been there recently and they have been up and down on the home stand. Nate Robertson pitched a solid game for Detroit. He only allowed two runs through seven innings. The Yanks scored two runs in each the eighth and ninth inning to hurt Robertson’s stat line. He ended up going 8.2 innings giving up ten hits and six runs. He walked two and struck out seven and now has a 3.42 ERA on the season. Jamie Walker came on to get the final out. The Tigers have not been able to get over the hump against the better teams in the league. Detroit looks to salvage one against the Yankees with Verlander manning the hill. *** OEs 3 Stars of the Game *** #3 Jamie Walker – 0.1 IP, 1 H, 0 Rs, 1 BB, 0 Ks, 0.63 ERA #2 Magglio Ordonez – 1-4 with a RBI #1 Nate Robertson – Loss (3), 8.2 IP, 10 Hs, 6 Rs, 2 BBs, 7 Ks, 3.42 ERA &img-http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/images/2006/06/01/EpTyme9x.jpg-img& On Tap – Game 54 (35-18) v.
