127 0 All The Olde English Ds Game 54: Detroit Tigers 7 New York Yankees 6 6/5/06, 10:28am I finally made it back to Comerica Park for my second game of the season. What an exciting game. It was the most excitement I have ever experienced at a Tigers game. Detroit quickly fell behind 5-0 before beginning their comeback. Justin Verlander struggled for one of the few times on the year. He allowed six runs on seven hits in five innings of work. He struck out four and walked four while surrender a home run to Giambi. The bullpen was masterful in the final four innings. Jamie Walker pitched a scoreless sixth and Joel Zumaya added a scoreless seventh. Zumaya got into some trouble with a walk and two base hits loading the bases with only one out. He got out of the jam with a weak foul out and a fielder choice grounder. Fernando Rodney pitched the last two innings and earned his fourth victory of the year. The Tigers scored three in the fourth inning. Granderson, Thames and Pudge all singled to load the bases with no outs. Maggs walked scoring Granderson, Guillen singled in Thames and Infante singled in Pudge. Detroit bounced back with a run in the fifth responding to the homer by Giambi in the top of the inning. The Tigers again loaded the bases with no outs buy only scored one run on a RBI single by Magglio. Detroit never gave up in this gaming coming back in the bottom of the ninth to steal the victory. The Tigers got to their former teammate Kyle Farnsworth. Thames started the game winning rally with a one out walk. Ivan Rodriguez followed with a single to put two on with one out. Magglio Ordonez tied the game with a single scoring Thames. Carlos Guillen ended the game with a single plating Pudge for the victory. *** OEs 3 Stars of the Game *** #3 Fernando Rodney – Win (4), 2 IP, 2 Hs, 0 Rs, 0 BBs, 2 Ks, 1.08 ERA #2 Magglio Ordonez – 2-3 with 2 BBs and 4 RBI #1 Carlos Guillen – 3-5 with 2 RBI &img-http://images.sportsline.com/u/photos/baseball/mlb/img9474461.jpg-img& On Tap – Game 55 (36-18) v.
