127 0 All The Olde English Ds Game 59: Detroit Tigers 3 Chicago White Sox 4 6/16/06, 6:36am Not again!!! Once more the Tigers carry a lead into the late innings against the White Sox. Again they found a way to lose thanks to Alex Cintron. He singled in the tie breaking run in the seventh as the game ended in the same score as the previous evening. The Tigers are no 0-5 against Chicago and only a half game ahead in the AL Central standings. Detroit’s offense is 0-12 in the series with runners in scoring position, which is definitely not helping the cause against the World Series Champions. The Tigers scored on another solo home run this time off the bat of Curtis Granderson. The second run of the game came by a sac fly off the bat of Marcus Thames to score Ordonez. Detroit was fortunate to tie the game at three with two outs in the top of the seventh thanks to a gift double error by third baseman Joe Crede. The tie was quickly broken in the bottom half of the inning. Justin Verlander took the loss as Crede singled off him in the seventh and scored when Jamie Walker gave up the single to Cintron. To make matters worse for the Tigers Craig Monroe sprained his ankle in the third inning and there is no word on how serious the injury is. Hopefully this is nothing serious and he won’t be out for long. Detroit will attempt to remain in first place with the finale of this series with Chicago. *** OEs 3 Stars of the Game *** #3 Carlos Guillen – 2-2 with 2 BBs #2 Justin Verlander – Loss (4), 6+ IP, 7 Hs, 4 Rs, 2 BBs, 4 Ks, 2 HR, 3.35 ERA #1 Curtis Granderson – 1-4 with 2 runs scored, a HR, 1 BB, and a RBI &img-http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/images/2006/06/08/wDQaUNro.jpg-img& On Tap – Game 60 (37-21) @ Chicago White Sox (35-22) June 8th, 8:05 ET Kenny Rogers (7-3, 3.54) v.
