127 0 All The Olde English Ds Game 70: Detroit Tigers 12 Chicago Cubs 3 6/19/06, 5:30am In order to save time I will list the Tigers starting positional players that did not go yard against the Cubs…Placido Polanco…Magglio Ordonez…and…and…huh…I guess that is it. Detroit ruined the return of Mark Prior to the Cubs rotation and continued to batter the bullpen. The Tigers tied a club record with 8 home runs in the game. That number included two home runs each by Chris Shelton and Brandon Inge. The two homers by Inge give him the team lead with fifteen on the season. Rmayer looks to be right on with predicting 30 HRs on the year for Inge, who is halfway there after 70 games. Also, Rmayer’s infatuation with Thames seems well placed as Marcus is breaking out since receiving extended playing time. The other story line for the Tigers was victory number 200 in his career for Kenny Rogers. He was extremely efficient in picking up his tenth win on the season going eight innings and only giving up two long balls. Rogers has been a fabulous addition to Detroit’s rotation. Jason Grilli worked the ninth inning and gave up the third Cub home run. This game was over early. Detroit scored six runs in the first inning. Granderson led off with a home run, Guillen followed with a three run shot and Shelton added a two run homer for good measure. Marcus Thames and Vance Wilson also went deep for the Tigers. Shelton and Thames both trail Inge by one home run as they have fourteen. Guillen keeps racking up the RBIs as he now has 44 on the year and Brandon Inge has 41 from the ninth place in the batting order. The only downside for Detroit is that the White Sox keep winning to keep pace at 1.5 games behind the team with the best record in baseball. *** OEs 3 Stars of the Game *** #3 Brandon Inge – 2-4 with 2 runs scored, 2 HRs and 2 RBI #2 Chris Shelton – 3-5 with 2 runs scored, 2 HRs and 3 RBI #1 Kenny Rogers – Win (10, 200th of his career), 8 IP, 4 Hs, 2 Rs, 1 BB, 2 Ks, 3.17 ERA &img-http://detroit.tigers.mlb.com/images/2006/06/18/RaWVkzDM.jpg-img& On Tap – Game 71 (46-24) @ Milwaukee Brewers (35-35) June 19th, 8:05 ET Jeremy Bonderman (6-4, 4.01) v.
