Rookie Gets Win For Nats As Teams Split 2 Game Series

Rookie pitcher Mike O'Conner making just his 2nd big league start, two hit the Amazins through 7 and got his first major league win under his belt, 6-2.  Alfonzo Soriano hit a 2 run homer and that combined with the rbi double by Marlon Anderson in the 1st was enogh over the Mets on a damp Tuesday night game in Flushing. John Maine was not impressive in his start, giving up 4 earned walking 2 and striking out 6 over 5 and a third. Beltran hit a homer for really the only offense from the Mets.
