His shoulder and forearm are likely feeling better because of the rest; but the real test is the elbow. If he is cleared to begin throwing, his elbow may or may not be sore again; and if it is the Twins may shut him down for the year. With his history of arm issues, innings pitched and shoulder/elbow and forearm issues, don't be surprized if he is done for the season. Return to Action this season: 50% chance Significant Fantasy Value this season: 50% chance Hideki Matsui: August 12th the doctor put him in a holding pattern for 10 days and he was not cleared to hit off a tee. This is not good news. Even if he is cleared to hit off the tee on the 22nd, it's a long way from hitting a 90+ mph fastball. Return to Action this season: 30% chance Significant Fantasy Value this season: 20% chance Gary Sheffield: The medical staff has September 15th as the target date; wishful thinking. He just began to swing a bat and that is just in water. Again, that is a long way from hitting a fastball. I think it will take longer to get his injured wrist back into game shape than 4 weeks. Aagin, don't be surprized if he is done for the rest of the season. Return to Action this year: 10% chance Significant Fantasy Value this season: 5% chance Derrek Lee: He came back to soon the first time, I don't think the Cubs will make the same mistake twice; However, this is the Cubs. He has not done much baseball wise for some time now; even if he does come back; what can he realistically due in 100 AB's. Look for the Cubs to shut him down and try again next year.
