Hi Aavenoso:
I did not know that we had Crosby's mother as a user on baseballgeeks, so please accept my apologies for offending you. He is a handsome, young man, and I am sure that he makes you proud.
This being said: Baldelli was not diagnosed with a mitochondiral disorder at the time that I drafted him... and his upside was umpteens better than your son.
I'm afraid that the last three years of baseball make your "Whats not to love about Crosby" comment laughable.
What is not to love about no more than 358 ABs in a season in the last three seasons? What is not to love about a .298 OBP and a .274 OBP in the last two years respectively? What is not to love a .229 BA and a .226 BA the last two years respectively?
I submit: There's not a lot to love.
On the positive, he has shown 15-18 HR power. He can steal 15-20 bases. He can score 85 or so runs.
I would rather have Theriot after that synopsis, to be honest.
This being said: I do have Crosby in my baseballmanager league, and I have no problems riding the hot hand here. But, let's face it. Based on the previous three seasons, it is STILL a gamble.
Crosby makes Khalil Greene look like a fantasy superstar.
This being said, your quote "that [I] advise avoiding Crosby" is flat out wrong. I never said that. When given the choice of Crosby or Theriot, however, I would choose Theriot at this point of the season. Just a safer bet for me.
