230 7 the only molting bird Thread Paulgeebert Re: Blue Jays May 20-25 Recap [Reply to #7] 5/28/06, 4:46pm You should be stoked about your starting staff ... The only person missing is Kazmir ... Sabathia cannot keep up the pace he's on, but he could sure stay close ... since coming back from the DL Sabathia has a 1.15 era in 39 innings, 33k (28 of which came in the last three games, with only 2 walks in those games too), and a .85 whip. Not too shabby. All i can say is its about time. Halladay, well, he's good. Beckett, he's not bad either. Beckett's stats are a little misleading tho, in a way that is probably better for you. Becket has had three bad starts, which came sequentially, and two of them were against the blue jays (the other was the sluaghter by the indians). So, really, he got beat up twice by the best hitting team in baseball (how often do i get to say it about the jays, c'mon i gotta say it), and the indians caught him sleeping, but besides that he's been lights out. Just watch out for when he pitches against the Jays. Petitte ... I never really liked him ... probably because he was a Yankee ... and probably because he wasn't that good until he left the Yankees ... his second season was good, but until last year he never really blew anyone away. I think he's bust ... just like I don't trust Chris Carpenter ... where was that arm when he made 27 starts for the Jays (35 appearances, 175 innings) and had a 6.26 era? But he seems for real, for now ... still sketchy tho ... I was thinking he was another Esteban Loaiza, who pitched two very unimpressive years for the Jays and the following year pitching with Chicago came in second for the Cy Young (Halladay crushed him) ... perhaps these remarkable turnarounds are reflective of the Jays' old pitching coach ... Talk about digression. Reyes is great, he was on my fantasy team last year ... loved the stolen bases, and the hitting was good, 5 hit games and whatnot ... this year you should be pretty happy with him ... save for the average he's doing great ... 25 rbis, 37 runs, 20 extra base hits, 19 sb ... he's bound to hit better than .249 ...
