Matt Morris' possible stay in St. Louis ended when the team's offer wasn't competitive with others in the big leagues. Morris is now said to have narrowed his two choices to two teams. The front runner is the S.F. Giants and the other team is unknown. For inquiring minds who want to know, the Giants archrivals, the L.A. Dodgers, are rumored to still be in the mix.

Going to the Giants would actually be a smart move for Morris. SBC/Pac Bell Park is a pitcher-friendly park and several of his former Cardinal teamates, like his former Catcher, Mike Matheny, play there.

According to ESPN News, Morris and the Giants are on the verge of agreeing to a three-year deal worth $27 million. It's expected to be finalized early this week.

Now, with the signing of Morris, the Giants have a decent starting pitching staff. Their bullpen is still a little iffy. If Barry Bonds stays healthy, expect them to compete with their archrival Dodgers for the N.L. West title. BTW, Ba-Bo has been looking a lot trimmer lately. Coincidence? I don't think so...
