The L.A. Daily News is reporting that Reggie Sanders might also sign with the Dodgers and play left-field. This prospect isn't totally thrilling because Sanders is a guy who has spent his entire career on and off the disabled list. However, with Jayson Werth backing him up, he could be worth the gamble. When Reggie is healthy, he's one of the top offensive players in the league.

Sanders was a stud last year (notwithstanding the injury). This would be the second to final piece of the puzzle to an NL West Championship... the last, would be the re-signing of Jeff Weaver.

According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Indians have also expressed an interest in Sanders. However, Reggie has stated that he would prefer going to a west coast team, so the Dodgers remain the front-runners.

Today's L.A. Daily News cited an unnamed source from the Dodger organization who said that the team has dropped its consideration of Sanders because Reggie asked for a three-year contract in the $15-18 million range. L.A. intended to offer a deal for one year only. It's quite possible that the Dodgers could refocus its efforts in acquiring Johnny Damon.

The latest news today is that Sanders is close to signing with the Kansas City Royals for a two-year deal for $10 million. It would be a great move for the Royals, as they can use all the help they can get.

After the signing of Lofton and Garciaparra, I don't think the Dodgers need Sanders.
