There must have been something pretty special about this guy who somehow acquired over 80,000 pieces of baseball memorabilia over the years, with much of it being some of the most significant artifacts in the games history. You can't help but wonder how Halper got a hold of certain historical souveniers, such as Ty Cobb's dentures and the 1919 Red Sox contract that sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees.
A few years ago, I saw that Red Sox contract when the "Baseball As America" tour came to L.A. It was in good condition and I felt goose bumps when looking at it in the display case.
