These are two former All-Stars who took a big slide last season. When I said that the Giants needed another power-hitter behind Barry, this is not what I had in mind. They should have gone for a guy in his prime. As for the Angels, they didn't need another infielder in the first place. Their best move would have been to go after a quality starting pitcher. It's only been a few days after they made the blockbuster trade, but they're reportedly trying to find any bidders for Steve Finley. Why would the Giants do this immediately after acquiring Finley? I agree with you. It is like trading trash for trash... but it has been more recent since Steve Finley actually did something very good. His 2004 was a great season.
