Subject:  Fantasy league company sues MLB for rights to use statistics in fantasy baseball game

This lawsuit is extremely important to fantasy baseball, as well as my playertrack.com site.

While I believe that MLB's main problem is against sites that manipulate statistics in a GAME scenario, I am still not quite clear as to whether this will affect my ability to create interactive statistical lists of players, like those at PlayerTrack.

Common sense would dictate that these figures are newsworthy, and -- therefore -- allowing the MLB to license statistics would be like allowing a corporation to license, say, its publically accessible earnings for the year (which is downright ridiculous).

We'll be keeping a close watch on this issue here.
