He's still going to be a good pitcher, but his BB rate is much higher than Santana's and his K rate is much lower than Johann's. The next Johann Santana could be his own teammate, Francisco Liriano, who was just promoted to the starting rotation. What were the Twinkies waiting for? But I think the folks who need to give him a break are the Mariner brass who have brought him up much too early. He also took his lumps when he was 20 losing 19 games. It appears he made it through okay and is pitching at a high level now. You make good points about some of the other guys who went the other way.
