Segui made the right move under the circumstances. It's better to get it out under your own terms, rather than having it "leaked" out by the media. I wouldn't be surprised to see several players following Segui's lead in the upcoming days.

Segui isn't playing anymore, so it was easier for him to come forward. If he was still playing his admission would get him suspended for at least 50 games.
