The Mets rejected this trade offer because Zito is a free agent during the offseason, but he definitely could've been a major asset to N.Y. during the current playoffs, especially with Pedro and El Duque out of the rotation. This could cost them a trip to a Subway Series with the Yankees and quite possibly a loss in the first round to the Dodgers.
