Comparing the Hall of Fame cases for both popular outfielders.

I was actually surprised when I saw how Jim Edmonds's career stats are almost similar to Jim Rice's. When I think of Edmonds, the first thought that comes to mind is INJURIES. Rarely does a year go by when Edmonds is not on the D.L. Rice had a much better impact on the Red Sox (even in '86 at the downside of his career), as well as the league in general, so he's my pick for the Hall from these two.

Thanks for the reply Jaydawg! I have to disagree with your comment, though. In 2004, Jim Edmonds batted .301 with 42 home runs, 111 RBIs and a .643 slugging percentage, which was way, way more valuable than Rice in '86 or '75 - three seasons that each player's team went to the World Series.

I actually think Edmonds is also worthy of the Hall. His spectacular defense alone should get him in and despite all the injuries, he has still managed to put on amazing offensive stats. Imagine how much better he would've been if he wasn't on the D.L. so much.
But, I really feel bad for Jim Rice, who hasn't been given his due after being on the HOF ballot for several years. Though, he'll probably get in there in the next few years. I feel even worse for Andre Dawson, who's never even come close in the balloting.
