In case more evidence is needed that baseball in back in Detroit…more fans came out for the series against St. Louis than in any three game span in the history of Comerica Park. Over 125,000 fans witness the Tigers sweep of the Cardinals. The American League teams continue to dominate the NL in inter-league play.

Jeremy Bonderman gave Detroit another solid start. He struck out eight and only allowed a single run in seven strong innings. Wilfredo Ledezma benefited from the Tigers runs in the bottom of the eighth for his first victory of the year. Todd Jones pitched the ninth for his 20th save of the season.

The game was tied at on heading into the eighth before Curtis Granderson once again proved clutch. He doubled over the head of Edmonds in center to score Gomez before Inge was thrown out at home. Polanco followed with a double and Pudge with a single to give Detroit a three run cushion. Granderson’s hot hitting has improved his average to .296 on the year. The Tigers look to continue their winning streak as the Astros come to town for a three game series.
