Astros avoid the sweep by the Cincinatti Reds on Sunday by winning 3-2. Berkman continued his frenetic pace by homering in the 1st. Brad Lidge ended his 2 game blowed save streak by recording his 8th save of the year. He is now 8-10 on save attempts and hopefully he will not blow another one for a while. The Astros are now .5 games behind the Reds and the Cardinals for the Central Division lead. They play the 3rd place Brewers and then the Cardinals in back to back two game series before travelling to Colorado. The Central Division is looking to be the most competitive division in the NL this year with 4 of the 5 teams over .500 to end the first month of play. The Reds have suprised everyone by jumping out to a 17-8 start. The Cardinals started kind of slowly but have picked up the pace behind Pujols and the Astros are strong again at 16-8.

Astro Players to pick up after April:

While Ensberg started off red hot, he has since cooled considerably. He is still likely to hit 35 HR but not bat the .403 he started off with.

Lance Berkman will be tough to trade for, but if possible, grab him. He leads the Astros with HR-9 and RBIs-29 and as a switch hitter is effective against either rightys or south paws.

Wandy Rodriguez is relative no name. He pitched with the Astros for most of the season last year, but wasn't in the spot light pitching behind Clemens, Pettite, Oswalt, and Backe. He has started the year with a 4-0 record and a team leading 2.53 ERA. If you can sign him as a 3rd pitcher I would reccomend it.

Taylor Buchholz is a rookier pitcher the Astros called up at the beginning of the year. He is 2-1 in 2 starts and has made 5 total appearances. He just won against the red-hot Reds by allowing only 2 runs through 6 1/3 innings, ending the Reds 6 game winning streak. While he is only a rookie and may have some hard times, he could be a very productive 5th starter if he can pitch as well as he has.
