Bitter Bengie

Bengie Molina expressed his disappointment with the LAnaheim Angels as he was introduced by the Toronto Blue Jays:

"I think I built a good relationship with them," he said. "They never let me know. They just threw me like a piece of trash."

Molina signed with the Angels when he was 17.

"I don't think I did one thing to disrespect them at all for all those years," Molina said. "If anything I went out of my way for them. I even helped them get Bartolo Colon on to that club. I gave him a call. I called a couple of guys for them. And now when I needed a call, they never called me."

They were probably too busy worrying about what name to use this season. :-)

I think Bengie is more bitter about not landing a multi-year contract for 18-24 million. Obviously you can't bitch about money at your press conference with the new team so why not let it out on your old club.

From what I have heard though it seems rather typical that Stoneman does not talk much to his exiting players. It seems a professional conversation telling Bengie they are looking to get Mathis into the mix and that they have too many Molinas on the team may have changed his attitude. (insert cliche about MLB being a business here)

he needs to realize this is a business/ he needs to lose some weight too. leaving the angels to the blue jays because he wanted to win, hahaha.

It is too bad Bengie feels that way. Stoneman has always dealt that way with his players that leave. It was the same way with Spezio, Glaus, Eckstein, Washburn. It is a business decision and these guys have to relize that. Bengie did alot of great things with the Angels, and I will miss him. But it is too bad he got his feelings hurt. And go to Toronto to Win?? Wow, he doesn't think the Angels can do that?? Oh well, SOUR GRAPES. It makes us Angel fans feel not as bad.

Maybe a catcher witha career .309 OBP shouldn't be expecting to sign a $6 million-a-year contract for four years at age 31.

any type of offense a catcher makes is a plus. If I was a GM I would not give him a long contract with his weight issues and playing on astro turf might even tougher to catch.
