Comments on: Pitching ranking improvements
by: Rob Reed | January 11, 2009, 3:48pm

I have added the ability to reverse rank ERA, FIP, BABIP, WHIP... and, I added the K/BB (and reverse rank) function.

Now, you can do some fun stuff to search for SP gems...

For instance, I just did a rank using these search fields: ERA- (reverse ranking, highest to lowest), FIP (lowest to highest), K/9 (high to low), and WHIP. This was the Top 10 that was generated

Essentially, this is a list of fellows whose ERA may be deceiving, in a positive way. With this top 10, there are expected names, though... but there are some interesting, potential gems.

Josh Beckett. Ervin Santana. Javier Vazquez. Randy Johnson (anything left in the tank?). A.J. Burnett. Ricky Nolasco. And, to throw you another bone.. #11 is Jonathan Sanchez.

These pitchers are poised for significantly better seasons than last year, and they just might provide a lot more value in 2009 than they did in 2008.
