     Other than Roger Clemens, Jeff Weaver is the best free-agent pitcher out there and that isn't saying much.  His career ERA is well above 4.00 and I don't see him having another career year.  It's going to take a bit more for the Halos to compete with the much improved A's in the A.L. West.  The Cardinals and Mets have also expressed interest in Weaver, but the Angels have the edge, since he prefers to stay in So-Cal and his brother Jared is already in Anaheim.
