Central? sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AlBdR7a3tropfgHyu8fnTkERvLYF?slug=cnnsi-nlcentralprevie&prov=cnnsi&type=lgns Debate Yahoo 1266 2121 0 This topic was discussed in last week's Podcast #6. Reedster predicted the Cubs as the winner and FamilyMan said it will be the Cardinals. I'll agree with FamilyMan on this one. The Cards have the best all-around pitching in the majors led by Cy Young champ, Chris Carpenter. Their offense isn't too shabby either with the likes of Pujols, Rolen, and Edmonds. Besides the Reds, all of the teams in the N.L. Central have made improvements during the offseason. The Cubs should be the favorite for the Wild Card with the new additions of Juan Pierre and Jacques Jones. Houston added Preston Wilson, but they don't have a chance at the Wild Card this year, unless Clemens comes back in May. The Brewers and Pirates have some up-an-coming young talent led by Prince Fielder and Zach Duke, respectively. Plus, Pittsburgh has a great manager in Jim Tracy. Cincinnati will probably be the only team in the division with a losing record, but things are starting to look up for them with a new owner who is serious about putting together a winner.
