Ordonez backs out of WBC to focus on season

Magglio Ordonez wanted to play in the World Baseball Classic, but he's about to turn down that chance in order to better prepare for his second season with the Detroit Tigers. 

Ordonez said Sunday that he needed to talk with Venezuelan manager Luis Sojo, but he left little doubt that he intends to pull out of the WBC, which begins this week. 

"I'm focusing on the season,'' he said. "These people here made a big commitment to me. I owe them something.'' 

Whatever it takes just stay healthy Maggs.
