Last night (7/19), Brewers rookie Tony Gwynn Jr. collected his first major league hit in the ninth inning with a two-out double off of reliever Brian Wilson.  It came 24 years to the day after the first major league hit by his father, which was a double off of Philly's Sid Monge

     Growing up in Poway, I wonder if Tony Jr. dreamed of getting his first big league hit off a guy named after a Beach Boy.  In any case, it's unlikely that he thought it would occur on the anniversary of his old man's first hit.
