Once again, this is why I put MUCH less importance on paying a lot of money in fantasy for the top tier pitchers.

For one, the top tier pitcher could bomb.  But, more importantly, like in this case, they could get injured.

Fortunately, I was never a big Carpenter fan, so I don't have him on any of my teams.  But, there are an unfortunate many out there who had Carpenter as their #1 and were relying on him to carry the staff.
