I don't know about any of you folks, but I am actually kind of excited to be getting some good, professional baseball (where winning actually means something) a month early.

The U.S. should breeze through the tournament, though I expect Mexico and Canada to put up a decent fight against them. I expect a total humiliation inflicted on South Africa by our guys. Isn't Cricket more of a national pastime out there? I can't wait to see the Americans battle the Dominican Republic for the final crown. That should turn out to be the best baseball expedition in years. On paper, both teams are about equal on offense, even without A-Rod. But, the Americans definitely have more depth in pitching, so I think they'll win.

The Dominican and American teams are stacked. The final will be exciting between those two, but everyone else will get destroyed.

Now, with A-Rod officially on the Dominican roster, it looks like it's going to be a hell of a nailbiter between them and the U.S. But, even with A-Rod, I think the Americans will pull it out in a squeaker with tougher all-around pitching.

It looks like A-Rod is playing musical chairs. Today, he's decided that he's going to play for the U.S. What will he decide tomorrow--or next week for that matter? Stay tuned...
