Here is an aspect that I didn't really think about.

This guy knows that in the OF, there are a LOT of very excellent players, and his shot at making the all-star team in an outfield position is substantially less than at second base.

I think I get it now.

This dude just wants his 10 million and the chance to put up numbers attractive enought to yield trade value. I would love to see a formal apology from him through the media on this for his behavior. I would be fine if it came from an interpreter even. Who is his P.R. guy? His agent? If I was representing him,(this wouldn't have happeded in the first place) he would have already apologized. Then, I would make him to a chrity signing and appearances. I think he can be likable again. He's got a great smile and he's still young. First and foremost, he would have to at least put up 25-30 homers with a decent avg and some hustle stats(3B, steals, 2B). A few outfield highlights on Sports Center wouldn't hurt. Not that this justifies his behavior, because it doesn't, but isn't that an immature mistake? I don't see him doing this again. If he does, then he's beyond help or fixing. It's up to him.

Soriano doesn't come across like a T.O. in football. Hopefully this whole thing is a sign of immaturity and not a deeper selfishness. This will tarnish his reputation and follow him for a long time. It will be interesting to see how he proceeds in the future.
