Nowadays, I try to avoid buying autographed balls, since there have been rumors going around that people have been forging the signatures of players in recent years, even with the "Certificate of Authenticity" label. From what I've heard, Ted Williams' son, John Henry, used to autograph his father's name on balls during the last few years of his life, though I can't confirm it. But, still, it makes me reluctant to purchase autographed memorabilia.
