A year ago, people would've laughed at this kind of scenario. It's nice to see a small-market team like the Rays being contenders, but I'm not sure it will last long without a salary cap.

I say good for the Rays! Not only would it be a great move for Griffey, but it would be also great for the Rays. That shoupld definately put more butts in the seats at the Trop, especially if the Rays can stay in the playoff race all season. Hopefully the Rays won't have to give up an arm & a leg in return.

This is also very refreshing for a change because it's always the big market team, or the #%#%ing Yankees or Red Sox that gets players like this to help their teams down the stretch. Nice to see a small market team get a guy of Griffey's caliber if indeed Griffey ends up with the Rays. I hope it happens!

UPDATE: Griffey's agent has said there hasn't been any request at all to go to Tampa Bay. Store this one in the "False Rumors" file.

If Griffey doesn't stay in Cincy, the obvious place for him to go is Seattle where it all started.
