Friday night's 6-2 loss to the San Diego Padres was the Cubs' first loss since I started this blog, and it ended their seven-game winning streak. The team came right back with an 11-5 win Saturday night behind Greg Maddux and another great showing by the offense. It is just amazing how quickly this season has turned around. Two weeks ago, I would have never believed that the Cubs would be the Wild Card leaders at this time. Right now they are in a virtual tie with Arizona and Washington but lead both of those teams by a percentage point in winning percentage. As bad as the Cubs were playing for a while, it was still relatively early and all it took was a two-week hot streak to get the season turned around. The Cubs are 11-3 in their last 14 games and will try to complete a 6-1 road trip behind Carlos Zambrano today. Then they'll come back home to play three each against Toronto, Boston, and Florida, who all have similar records to the Cubs.
