Vote For Pedro
(By: goheels42@cox.net)

Pedro goes 7 strong innings while striking out 11 Padres, en route to his 4th win. Pedro was helped by the offense tonight, led by Carlos Delgado's 8th homerun, and Xavier's 5th. David Wright reached base 4 times and had 2 steals, as the Mets were 4 for 4 in attempts against Mr. Piazza. Mike got to Pedro in the 2nd, hitting a 2-0 cutter over the wall for the Padres lone run.

Next up Victor Zambrano

Fantasy Update - Beltran's MRI showed no structural damage, and again was available to pinch hit last night. He's listed as day to day, but if he isn't a 100% he's not going to play.

Marathon Game Ends With Met Loss
(By: goheels42@cox.net)

14 innings later the Mets took a loss in a relatively boring game. Bannister again had control issues, walking 6 in 5 innings, but came out of it with only allowing 1 run. Chad Bradford gave up the winning run in the bottom half of the 14th, when a double by Brian Giles scored Geoff Blum. Carlos Delgado again hit a solo shot to get the Mets on the board, and basically that was it from the Mets offense for the night. The game lasted just 3 hours and 56 minutes, which is amazing considering they played 14 innings, for comparison the Orioles Spankees game lasted 3 hours 24 minutes for 9. Kinda shows you the level of offensive production this...

Kaz Matches Griffey????????
(By: goheels42@cox.net)

Kaz, last night, in his first at bat of 2006, for the third consecutive season, hit a homer, with this years being a inside the park homerun. The last player to do this was Ken Griffey Jr. from 1997-1999 while in Seattle. Probably the only time in your life, you'll see Kaz compared to Griffey Jr. Then again when it comes to the DL they actually do have alot in common.

6 Run 8th Propells Mets To Win
(By: goheels42@cox.net)

The Mets waivered Jake Peavy's gem and got to the Pads bullpen and took game 1 of the 4 game series. Delgado homered for #6 on the year, and Kaz made his 2006 debut with a solo shot of his own, to give the Mets a 7-2 win. Cliff Floyd returned to the line up, but Beltran reaggravated his hammy and left in the 5th. One thing I did like is, if Kaz has to play, bat him in the 8 spot, which Willie did. Duaner Sanchez picked up probably the most efficient win you'll ever see, he threw 2 pitches, yes 2 pitches, recorded 2 outs and was credited with the win. Piazza was hitless in his first match up...

Hernandez to DL
(By: goheels42@cox.net)

Anderson Hernandez was put on the DL today with a bulging disk in his back. OK, makes sense then about Kaz, but still not happy about the situation. Can only hope they give the kid the job back once he gets healthy.

Glavine Impressive........Mets vs. Braves = Same Ol SameOl
(By: goheels42@cox.net)

Tom Glavine was impressive today, allowing just two earned runs and pitching 8 strong innings, but the offense took the day off for the 2nd day in a row and took the L today 2-1. The Mets had their chances at the bottom half of the ninth, with Reyes doubling and Chris Woodward singling him in to cut it to 2-1 with Delgado up and the tying run on first, but he popped out on the first offering from Hudson and Wright then flew out to end the game. Hudson was good today, and the absence of Floyd and Beltran was obvious.

Woodward played for second baseman Anderson Hernandez, and with the Mets going to activate Kaz Chop Sui tomorrow, we could...

Typical Zambrano..............AWEFULL!!!
(By: goheels42@cox.net)

It was basically a tee box Tuesday night when Victor Zambrano took the mound. Braves, most notably Andrew Jones, used Drivers, 3 Woods, and even Sand Wedges, any club in their bag, against the former Devil Ray. This guy is plain terrible, worst trade in Met history, and if there is any reason why this guy is making a scheduled start at the expense of Steve Trachsel being bumped, it is beyond me. I said it Sunday, this series shows where the Mets are, as a team, because to suceed in the NL,they have to beat the Braves, and now to win the series, it's Mr.Brave himself, Tom Glavine, trotting out to the mound tomorrow, to face his former team. Glavine...

Mets Chase Sosa.....Roll On
(By: goheels42@cox.net)

The Mets got to Jorge Sosa early and sent him to a 5th inning exit. Carlos Delgado and Xavier Nady continued their offensive attack, and on a night when David Wright and Jose Reyes were quiet, Pedro had enough backing to shut down the Braves for his 200th career win. Delgado hit a 2 run shot, Nady a solo shot and La Duca had a couple singles to provide the offense that was needed for the win. Wagner came in and shut the door in the ninth and the Mets are now 10-2,and hold a 5 game lead over Atlanta, which is a great start. Beltran was out tonight, and Cliff Floyd left in the bottom of the forth with a...

Re: Mets Take 2 Out Of 3
(By: goheels42@cox.net)

Fantasy Update - Beltran may now miss Monday's game due to the strained hammy. He was quoted as saying last year he played through the hurt quad, and it lingered all season, so resting it an extra day may seem like a good idea. I still think he plays the rest of the week, with the Mets having 7 games this week you'll still get 6 out of him.
