Somehow after an embarrassing loss to the White Sox on Friday, the Cubs came back with timely hitting and good pitching to win the next two games in the series. Hopefully we will look back at this as the turning point of the season, as Mark Prior came back earlier than expected from his elbow injury to pitch solid and Kerry Wood is coming back later on this week. Carlos Zambrano will get the ball Tuesday night to start another homestand against the Brewers. He really needs to try to throw strikes and not try to just throw as hard as he can, especially when he gets into trouble. These next two weeks before the All-Star Break are extremely important. The Cubs really need to win this home series with Milwaukee, but after that they play Washington, Atlanta, and Florida. I'm not saying that the division is totally out of reach yet, but these are all teams the Cubs might have to battle with for the Wild Card. If that happens and they are right in the middle of the Wild Card chase late in the season, we will look back on these games as being critical to determining the outcome. Of course, the Milwaukee and Washington games are at home. The Cubs are just 19-17 at Wrigley Field; that is just not gonna get it done.
