Cassey Janssen, and the rest of the jays (By: Paulgeebert) |
100$ says Casey Janssen of the Toronto Blue Jays throws an excellent game tonight against the Rangers. He had three really rough outings and then a good one last week. He has apparently corrected a flaw in his delivery. The three games he lost were not good games, and he had a lot of really bad luck in one of them (I remember about 5 hits in one inning not one of which was hit well). But I still think he's going to be great someday. He's got the stuff and the mind to handle it and a lot of confidence and a decent amount of experience (he'll turn 25 in September). I compared him to Verlander earlier this season (because... Last comment by: habsboy01 @ 3/26/07, 4:29pm |

So, what can I rant about? The Jays are not worth talking about! They have sucked! Truly. They just got swept by the Marlins; the Tigers took two out of three against them. The Marlins though made the Jays look bad. For the three game series, the Jays scored a combined total of 4 runs. 4 RUNS!!! That’s terrible. That is, for the Blue Jays, the lowest total runs scored for any three game set this season. The next lowest three game total is 7 runs, and all of them came against the Colorado Rockies, who also swept the Jays. I think there are two main factors at play here – all six of those games took place @ National League... Last comment by: Paulgeebert @ 6/20/06, 7:04pm |

Re: The all star game is looking more like a popularity contest rather than a all star game! (By: drrubb) |
In my opinion, this is who should be the starting all star players for each league & their back ups(not based off fan voting, but their actual numbers/production. AL C - Joe Mauer 1B - Jim Thome 2B - Jose Lopez SS - Miguel Tejada 3B - Alex Rodriguez OF - Vlad Guerrero OF - Vernon Wells OF - Jermaine Dye DH - Travis Hafner (if there is one) AL Reserves: Alex Rios Manny Ramirez David Ortiz Derek Jeter Troy Glaus Ramon Hernandez Magglio Ordonez Nick Swisher Grady Sizemore Gary Matthews Jr. Kevin Mench Carl Crawford Robinson Cano Ichiro Suzuki Micheal Young AL Starting Pitchers: Roy Halladay Curt Schilling Scott Kazmir Mike Mussina Jose Contreras CC Sabathia Justin Verlander Barry Zito Johan Santana AL Relievers: Jon Papelbon BJ Ryan Fernando Rodney Bobby Jenks Chris Ray F. You know how it goes, a little from collumn A, a little from collumn B ... (By: Paulgeebert) |
The Jays have now managed to win the first two games of a three game series five times, and each time failed to win the third game. Ted Lilly got socked by the Red Sox on Wednesday, May 31, looking bad through each of his 4 innings pitched, luckily giving up only five earned runs. He gave up five hits, donated 4 walks, struck out 3, and gave up two home runs – one to Ortiz, and one to Loretta; Ortiz I can understand, but the homerun to Loretta was emblematic of the way Lilly pitched – it was Loretta’s second homerun this season. Lilly had absolutely no control; he got extremely wild in the fourth inning, giving up three walks... |
Can the Jays sweep? They've just won the first two games of a three game series against the Red Sox, right after winning the first two games of a series against the white sox and failing to sweep them. That was the fourth straight time the Jays had won the first two games of a three game series and lost the last game. So can they do it this time? I can't garauntee that the Jays will sweep the red sox, but I think it's a pretty good bet. The Jays starter tomorrow is Ted Lilly, and among the teams he has had the most success against in his carreer is the Red Sox. "Lilly is 5-3 with a 3.57 era... |
Well well ... the white sox are looking a little cowardly these days ... or so their manager seems to think ... Ozzie's pissed about the way they are losing (apparently there's a serious lack of effort or some such thing ... a white sox fan would know better than i would) ... thank goodness the Jays were lucky enough to be the recipients of those games the White Sox lost apparently with no help but their own ... So, the word of the year so far, and especially of this series, is streak. Or sweep. But that's just a predecessor of the streak. The Jays have not won more than 3 games in a row, and have won the first... |
Today was a good day I think. Yesterday, was not such a good day though. Yesterday, Josh Towers gave up another four runs in two innings before he was relieved by Scott Downs. The Jays came back and took the lead (they lost though) so Towers didn't get the loss. Today, he was sent down to AAA. 1-8, 9.00 era, 10 starts, 1.90 whip in 45 innings. Good riddance. For now. If he gets better, ok, but for now, the Jays let him pitch way too long. I don't blame them, he pitched so well last year, you know he has it in him. But he doesn't have it and it cost the Jays a lot of games. I'm not sure... Last comment by: Paulgeebert @ 5/28/06, 4:46pm |

I'm just gonna keep posting blogs in here for now ... the jays ... i think i owe you two days of news. Starting with the pitchers. Halladay won AL player of the week for his two complete games 3 or 4 hitters. He is intense, but mind you, he pitched it against Anaheim and Tampa Bay, both of which were struggling mightily with the bats. He's still the best, clearly they are not the ultimate test. Related to Halladay's exceptional performance is Jays rookie Casey Janssen, who pitched 7 1/3 innings of one hit ball against the angels last week, and last night pitched 8 innings of two hit ball against the angels. Those were his third and fourth starts... |
It was great to see Josh Towers pitch incredibly well today. In my last blog I was saying how terrible he has been so far this season. And I definately do not retract that statement. However, he may have turned a corner. Today, Sunday May 14, Towers threw 68 pitches going into the 9th inning, having faced only two over the minimum and giving up one unearned run. He ran into trouble in the ninth though, giving up a two run shot, and was relieved by B.J. Ryan. Towers performance was outstanding though: 68 pitches through 8 innings is unheard of. I definately would not jump the gun and say Towers is going to be perfect the rest of the season,... |
