Re: Thoughts on Bonds, Schilling Etc
(By: Robert Jones)

I don't think anyone really had any concept of steroids when the rules were laid out. The effect that they have had is like something from a sci-fi story. I am not sure that some of the substances taken, while perhaps not against league rules, may have been illegal to own, or possess or perhaps to use on humans at the time....or at least not even have been approved by the FDA. Even if it was not illegal....I think it was downright wrong and immoral to use chemical injection/enhancements to become a better player. Some things are just plain wrong.

Re: Thoughts on Bonds, Schilling Etc
(By: Reedster)

Excellent comment, Booga. I agree on the reasons that Bonds is hated... I don't agree with the public perception.

It bothers me enormously, but I know it isn't because he is black. That is downright ridiculous. Critics are wanting to put an asterisk on Bonds' potential record that would beat ANOTHER black man. This isn't Babe Ruth we are trying to protect.

Schilling's comments were way out of line... I agree with Kruk (isn't he the best thing to happen to Baseball Tonight in ages?). You don't go out publically and bash another guy for his personal life (Schilling attacked Bonds for cheating on his wife and cheating on his taxes).

It is said that Bonds testified to a...

Thoughts on Bonds, Schilling Etc
(By: Robert Jones)

I watched Schilling's comments today. I felt like Schilling gave an honest answer...of the way he (Schilling) felt about Bonds. I tended to agree with John Kruk's comments on the subject that Schilling crossed the line by getting into Bond's personal life. I think Schilling should have kept his comments strictly to baseball when asked.

One thing that infuriates me regarding the Bond's issue was the fact that the race card is being played. The allegation is everyone hates Bond's becuase he is black. I think most people hate Bonds because he can be arrogant, a jerk and people tend to think he cheated to get where he is....under those circumstances how can you not feel for...

Who Knew????
(By: Robert Jones)

I am going to try to attend my first true minor league game tomorrow here in Tampa as I watch the Class A Tampa Yankees face the Class A Mets affiliate. I never really knew that the Yankees had a minor league system. I always thought the Royals were their Class A affiliate and the Astros were their AA club and the Red Sox were their AAA club. Whoa!!! Who Knew????

I loved your post on the rivalry. As a fan of baseball I really do enjoy this rivalry. As a die hard Braves fan it is always a thrill when these two meet up.

I think the Mets have an incredible...

Getting Dunn
(By: Robert Jones)

The way I see it, if you have ARod and you have Sexson, the worst that can happen is that you get Dunn too early. Getting Dunn like that might hurt your average but at least you get to have Sexson and having ARod gives you the power to compensate for the loss of average when you got Dunn.

When you get Dunn early like that you might hurt the feelings of someone else who was counting on getting Dunn. Such is life, they will just have to deal with it. At least you get the satisfaction of knowing that you got Dunn

Having Sexson Can Be Enjoyable
(By: Robert Jones)

Personally I enjoy having Sexson. You are pretty safe this year but you have to be very careful not pick up Zach Minor because in most leagues it is illegal to have Sexson with a Minor.

I had a friend once who really liked having Sexson. His motto was, "Go after Uggla early". It must of worked because he was always getting Sexson. If you wind up Having Sexson with say an Utley or an Uggla it might be best to keep the lights low.....but it is still enjoyable but sometimes it is just Sosa....just keep the shades pulled and the game on tv and if all else fails dream of Tracy, just don't tell anyone...

This is what you get from Sexson. Just look at last year... he was REALLY in the doldrums in the first half of the season and his power wasn't there... but it eventually arrived.

His BA last year was about what you should expect (memory serves, it was somewhere around .264)... expect 30+ HRs when all is said and done with somewhere around a .220-.260 BA when all is said and done (he is a .267 career hitter, but this is largely due to having played a number of...

Richie Sexson is on my fantasy team and he is killing me. Do you expect him to continue to hit bad or will he get back to the great power hitter he once was.
