Lee, Rusch Lead Cubs to Another Win over Rockies
(By: chicagocubsblogger)

May 28, 2005

The Cubs had another relatively easy win over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday afternoon, 5-1. Derrek Lee continues to be outstanding with another two home runs, four in two days and 16 on the year. He's my league MVP so far. It was also nice to see Aramis Ramirez hit a home run. He has struggled at the plate but it looks as though he is starting to turn it around. Neifi Perez has also hit well the past couple of days in that leadoff spot. I still think the key to the Cubs offense is Corey Patterson. He's hitting home runs, but if he can hit more line drives, utilize his speed and create more runs, that will...

Hawkins Traded to Giants
(By: chicagocubsblogger)

May 28, 2005

The Cubs traded RHP LaTroy Hawkins to the San Francisco Giants on Saturday for pitchers Jerome Williams and David Aardsma, who will both go to the minors. Another Injury For Prior, Cubs
(By: chicagocubsblogger)

May 28, 2005

Friday's easy 10-3 win over the Rockies was marred by a freakish injury to Mark Prior. In the fourth inning, Brad Hawpe hit a rocket that I read was clocked at 117 mph, hitting Prior in his pitching elbow. The ball hit Prior so hard that it bounced into the air high enough for Aramis Ramirez to have to dive behind third base to catch. Prior fractured a bone in his arm and it sounds like he will be out until the All-Star Break at the very earliest. Hopefully the Cubs will still be in contention in the second half, but if not Prior might be shut down for the rest of the year. It is really frustrating for...
