You have to admire these guys... especially Henderson. We're in 2004, and Henderson's rookie card is from 1980.Ozzie Smith's was in 1979.Tim Raines, 1981.Cal Ripken, 1982.Wade Boggs, 1983.I'm rooting for Rickey to hit the bigs again.

Is Orosco still around, or did he retire?

I believe Orosco did retire after last season with the Padres. If I remember it correctly, his rookie year was either in '78 or '79. To be honest, I'm surprised Orosco lasted as long as he did. Jesse had a few good seasons early on with the Mets, but he was terrible when he arrived to the Dodgers in the late '80's. At that time, he was best known for being a prankster, most notably putting a bunch of ink in Kirk Gibson's hat. Gibson was not amused and they had a major brawl.

Yah, Orosco retired in January, as a member of the Dbacks.http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1714645

I like Henderson & McGriff to, especially the "Crime Dog"! He should be a hall of famer without question in my eyes. 488 career homeruns should get him in the hall of fame no matter who he played for. It's sad that he won't get just one more chance to start or even platoon with any major league team just to give him a shot at 500 career homeruns. He is everything that is good about the game of baseball & goes about his job quietly but effectively. He is a class act! Henderson & McGriff should be locks for Cooperstown! There are guys in the Baseball Hall of Fame with lesser numbers!

I think that the Crime Dog will get another shot, personally. He didn't look THAT bad at the plate last year for the Dodgers when I saw him.He is prime DH-only material. In fact, because of the DRays poor showings lately, and Aubrey Huff's continual slump, I'd bet that the DRays will be the team.

Hey drrubb:Look at this link from rotoworld.com:http://rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.asp?sport=MLB&id=3579.Sum and substance: "It is not out of the realm of possibility that Fred McGriff could return to the Devil Rays as their DH in the next week or so.He is still Tampa property under the terms of a minor league contract, and with Rays' designated hitters batting a paltry .161, McGriff, who is working out at the teams' minor-league complex, could find his way back on the roster."Told ya.

It couldn't hurt! The Devil Rays could probably benefit from me hitting for them, much less the Crime Dog. I'm going to a game next Sunday, and hopefully he'll be there. I really like Freddie.
