Back on track?
(By: MizzouAstro)

The Astros just ended a big Interleague skid with a series win over the Rangers 9-5. The Astros finish the first half with home series against the Cubs and Cardinals. Hopefully the Astros can finish strong agains two division foes and gain some important ground in the Central Division race. Wandy Rodriguez had a shaky start, but settled down, moving his record to 9-5 on the season. With the Rocket starting his 3rd game tomorrow and Mike Lamb hitting the tar out of the ball, I think the Astros are set up well with their rotation and finally getting some run support back to make a nice move before the break.

Clemens returns just in time
(By: MizzouAstro)

It appears that Roger Clemens' return was scheduled by the baseball gods just in time. With the Astros just over .500 and finally beginning to find their bats, the boost he should provide will be much needed. With the Cardinals at a low after being bonesawed by the White Sox for two straight games as well as the Reds being anything but consistent, it appears that the time is now for the Astros to make their run before Pujols returns, which could be as soon as Monday, according to La Russa. If the Rocket can bring a little more stability to the 'Stros rotation and their bats can continue to produce 4-5 runs a game, not to mention the fact that...

'Stros finding their groove
(By: MizzouAstro)

The Astros won their seventh game in their last 9 tries tonight as Roy Oswalt returned off the DL to move his record to 5-2. With Clemens return looming, the Astros have finally found their bats again. After putting up 9 runs last night against the Cubs, they scored 5 more today as they handed Maddux another loss. Berkman has regained his touch, as he is back in 2nd in the NL with 56 RBI. Chris Burke has really found a bat as he has earned the start of NL rookie of the year runner up Taveras over the past week. He is someone to pick up as a free agent if possible, he has starts in CF as well as...

Astros crapping it up
(By: MizzouAstro)

Astros are flat out sucking. THey can't score. They can't throw strikes. You name it they can't do it. Hopefully Clemens will come soon.

Astros in slump
(By: MizzouAstro)

The Astros lost again today, dropping their record to a meager 26-26. They got a good performance out of Oswalt today, but lost when reliever Chad Qualls gave up 3 run bomb to Albert "Big Boy" Pujols, aka a god amongst mortals. The Astros need to pull their heads out of the dark abyss. Their pitching has been awful, and over the last week the bats have been dead, with the exception of Ensberg, who had 3 dingers. They need to start winning again so they don't lose Clemens to the Boredsox or the Shankees.

Astros Getting Blasted
(By: MizzouAstro)

The Astros have been absolutely getting blasted lately. They just got swept by the Giants at home, giving up double digits in all three games. Last week I gloated over how great Wandy Rodriguez was playing and all of a sudden this week he gets rocked. Hopefully its just a one time deal and he will bounce back. The main probably has been simply throwing strikes. The 'Stros pitchers have been walking a ton over the past 5 games, causing the rediculous number of runs that they have been giving up. Hopefully they will pull their heads out and bear down now that interleague play is about to start.

Wandyful!
(By: MizzouAstro)

The Astros finally broke their 6 game losing streak by beating the Dodgers 4-2 tonight. Wandy Rodriguez, the very obscure 3rd starter for the Astros won his 5th game, he is now 5-1. This guy came out of nowhere last year for the 'Stros, starting in the second half of the season for Brandon Backe, who was injured. Wandy even pitched a game in the NLCS. I didn't expect much from him this year, but he has, with the exception of Roy O, been the most consistent starter for the Astros. He has only had 1 bad outing, when he got roughed up by the Rockies in Colorado, which can happen to anyone. Other than that, he has been fantastic. I...

Astros Tank Again
(By: MizzouAstro)

The Astros, after beating St Louis 2 games in a row, have now lost 4 in a row, including a sweep by the Colorado Rockies. Tonight the 'Stros took on the Giants in a make up game from a rain out in April. Roy Oswalt got rocked in the 5th and he ended up giving up 7 runs in 4.1 innings. On top of that, Ensberg has gone absolutely ice cold, which has really screwed me because I have him on my fantasy team. Hopefully that can pull it together because they have a series in LA against the Dodgers before returning home to play the Rockies again.

ASTRO FAN POST #1
(By: MizzouAstro)

THE FIRST POST OF (hopefully) AN ASTROS' FAN PERSPECTIVE

Listening to the most recent BaseballGeeks podcast (#15) sparked my interest to begin expressing my opinions on the defending National League champion Houston Astros (dang that has a nice ring to it).

Coming off a historic year for the Astros that included the first National League championship and World Series appearance in franchise history, I had relatively low expectations for the team this year. When your team averages one World Series appearance every 45 years or so, I figured it would be awhile before I saw the next one. This, combined with the possibility that the Astros would lose Roger Clemens and the franchise leader in homeruns, Jeff Bagwell, caused me to enter this...

Who Should I Trade???
(By: MizzouAstro)

So here is a question I'm going to pose to anybody who wants to answer:

I have an excess of good outfielders on one of my fantasy teams. I have Carlos Lee, Geoff Jenkins, Moises Alou, Kevin Mench, Carl Crawford, and Jason Lane. Whenever I bench one of these guys (particularly Mench and Alou) they have a huge week. I need more production from both the catcher and short stop. Does anyone have any suggestions on which outfielder I should offer in a trade? I'm looking at trying to get either Victor Martinez at C or either Jeter or Tejada as SS. Since I have 6 OF, I'm even willing to trade 2 of them.

Any suggestions?
