April 22, 2008 Is Smoltz the best pitcher in Atlanta Brave history? (By: JoeKool2322) John Smoltz added another milestone to his illustrious career has an Atlanta Brave pitcher. Whether getting the call in the 9th inning or being penciled every 5th day, Smoltz has been a flat-out gamer and one of my favorite Braves of all-time. After recording his 3,000 K of his career it got me wondering where should Smoltz rank among all-time Brave pitchers. From Maddux, to Niekro, to Glavine, to Spahn, one has to wonder where would Smoltz fall under. To me it is simple. He is the BEST pitcher in Braves history. My lead has dwindled to 4.5 points but more importantly Rob continues to stay on pace to be the worst team in the league has he is only two points above the auto team. WoW!! I made a few moves this week including trading one of my Braves, Tim Hudson for CC. A big gamble considering CC this year but it could pay off. Hey you can't win in fantasy without taking some gambles. I also picked up Mike Jacobs who is off to a great year. I also inserted Ming-Wang into the starting lineup. We will see if these moves work. (By: JoeKool2322) The good news of this series was that Andruw Jones finally hit a HR. Yea that will really make up for his below the Mendoza line batting average. Another positive note is that Rob Reed's Dodgers continue to be crappy. Not only am I beating you in BTG but my Braves just swept your lowly Dodgers. The most important news of this series was that prior to Chipper Jones getting hurt we said that Chipper could be a HOF barring injury. However, it looks like the injury bug has caught Larry again has his right quad muscle is starting to bother him. AT this point the Braves injury report reads like a memorial; Gonzalez, Soriano, Moylan, Chipper, Hampton, Glavine. Ryan Ludwick and Luke Scott are hitting for great averages and are starting to produce in the power numbers especially Ludwick who is batting .343, with 3 jacks, 10 rbi. Not bad for a 5th OF. Thank you all for letting me get King Felix (65), Hudson (113), Escobar (128), Tejada (145), Wang (177), Nady (192), and the leading closer in the bigs at the moment with my boy Sherrill (208). I hope Bannister, Westbrook, and Buerhle turn out to be great FA pick-ups. By the way guys my big four of Felix, Webb, Zambrano, and Huddy combined have 7 wins, 63 K's, average ERA and WHIP of 2.28 & 0.96.
